FAQs at Attestation of Power of Attorney (PoA)
1. How can one apply for Power of Attorney ?
Depending on if you are (Indian Passport Holder OR OR USA Passport Holder),
Please go through the checklist which is applicable to you, and bring the Application with Supporting documents to the Consulate between 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
2. Does one need to make an appointment for Power of Attorney ?
There is no need to take an appointment for a Power of Attorney application.
Applicants may walk into the Consulate on any working day as per below:
Timing for submitting the documents: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Timing for collection of the documents: 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
3. What is the processing time for Power of Attorney ?
One day (Same Day), for the application submitted in Person/over the counter.
4. Documents valid as a proof of address/residence?
• US Driving License OR
• Utility Bill OR
• Lease Agreement OR
• State Identity Card OR
• Mortgage Deed
5. What Documents are valid as a proof of US Visa Status?
• Visa page of Passport (i.e. H1B, H4, L1, L2 etc.) OR
• Green Card. OR
• Employment Authorization Document (Work Permit) OR
• I-797, I-140 or I-20
6. Can Applicants send the documents to the Consulate by Post or Physical Mail ?
Yes, Applicants can send the Application with Supporting Documents Via Post or Physical Mail.
Please make sure all the documents you are sending are Notarized.
Please send a Self Addressed prepaid envelope/Label along with your application.
